In Malaysia, there are a number of T20 people who are well to do, but yet at the same time are notorious cheapskates. This could probably be one of the reasons on how they amassed their wealth. Case in point, this woman, driving a car that is priced for more than RM200,000 refusing to pay tolls which ended up to be RM245.
Mercedes woman refuses to pay tolls
However, a Prolintas staff member managed to flag down the woman and demanded she pay the balance that she owed. She agreed. Netizens were angry at the woman as she can afford to purchase a Mercedes but at the same time appears to be unable to afford paying tolls like the rest of us.
Angry netizens recommended that she has to not only pay the amount she owed but also a fine that is 10x the amount as a lesson. Questions are rising on how the woman in fact avoided paying the tolls as most tolls in Malaysia would have a barrier (palang).
Another netizen replied that she must’ve tailgated another car that made payment. If you tailgate another car, there’s a strong chance that the automatic system might think your car is a part of the other car and thus will let you go.
Others are stating that this is a form of stealing and that the woman should be placed behind bars to commit such an act. Netizens are questioning the local authorities on not getting involved in this matter as others might be punished severely for a crime that’s even smaller.
