To be considered a society based on Masyarakat Madani, Malaysia must eliminate certain laws, such as the Security Measures (Special Measures) Act of 2012 (SOSMA).
This legislation, referred to as “Jurassic” by a former parliamentarian, was passed under former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as a replacement for the Internal Security Act (ISA) and Emergency Ordinance. It also exists alongside the Penal Code.
