The Malaysia Culinary World Cup 2023, organised by the Malaysia Bersatu Culinary Association (MBCA), set a new Guinness World Record for the largest cooking competition, with 713 participants from 12 countries. The event, which was held from February 21 to 23 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, welcomed over 3,500 visitors and included nine main categories and 62 sub-categories, judged on various aspects such as innovation, taste, hygiene, Mise-En-Place, and techniques.

One of the highlights was the “mystery box” challenge, the Malaysia Heritage Food Black Box Competition, open to both professional and aspiring chefs. The event concluded with an award ceremony for outstanding teams and individuals who scored the highest throughout the competition. Organising Chairperson and President of MBCA, Chef Arthur Lim, expressed his delight at the competition’s success, saying that it was “a stepping stone to introduce Malaysia’s diverse and authentic cuisine to the world”.
