Muhammad Nabil Rashid, a 33-year-old man, has been charged with assault in connection with the attack on Malaysian actor Kamal Adli in Singapore. Kamal Adli was hit multiple times with an extendable baton while he was meeting fans on the last day of Hari Raya Mega Sale 2023, a three-day fair at Singapore Expo Hall 5A.
The victim suffered a 3cm scalp laceration on his head and had to undergo surgery after being rushed to the hospital. The accused appeared in court via video-link, and the judge granted the prosecution’s application to remand Muhammad Nabil Rashid at the Institute of Mental Health for two weeks for psychiatric observation.

Kamal Adli’s actress wife, Uqasha Senrose, shared her account of the incident on her Instagram account. She claimed that the incident happened when they were about to leave the event and were approached by a wheelchair-bound woman who wanted to take a photo with them. Ms Uqasha also claimed that her siblings who were with them during the incident were threatened by the perpetrator. In an Instagram update, a video was posted showing the actor at the hospital. In the video, a doctor says that he is well enough to return to Malaysia.
