Malaysia’s Perikatan Nasional coalition raises concerns about potential government collapse following the arrest and charging of several leaders with alleged graft and abuse of power. PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang recently stated during a dialogue session that the end of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s administration may come soon.
All Hadi’s talk is despite the public’s desire for political stability and economic recovery and experts say Muhyiddin is also desperate to pray for Anwar’s downfall as he faces all the charges against and reputation failure.
Hadi’s Political Turmoil
Hadi emphasized that it was PN’s “right” to plan to topple the government, citing discontent among parties in the mixed coalition government. The situation raises the specter of political turmoil reminiscent of the Pakatan Harapan administration’s collapse in 2020.
