The Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, has guaranteed that the paid MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) will not rely on government funds or be constructed on land belonging to impoverished individuals.

Instead, the government will utilise private financing initiatives (PFI) and collaborate with financial institutions to finance the MRSM. Ahmad Zahid emphasised that demand for entry into MRSM is more than 300% of its capacity, and innovative methods will be required to accommodate this demand.
During the Deputy Minister’s Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat, Ahmad Zahid stated that he will ensure that the construction of the paid MRSM will not take place on land belonging to underprivileged individuals and will establish a smart partnership with several organisations. Earlier, Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, the Chairman of MARA, proposed that the paid MRSM be specifically created for the elite high-income segment of society.
