Members of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) staged a walkout from the Dewan Rakyat in protest when the Deputy Speaker, Alice Lau, did not allow a targeted withdrawal of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) to be discussed in the Parliament session. PN member Wan Ahmad Fayhsal had requested for the motion to be discussed as it concerned public interest.
Walkout by opposition party
Unfortunately for them, it was rejected on the grounds that the Finance Minister and his deputy had already explained the matter. Despite urging from other MPs, Lau stood firm and encouraged the PN MPs to send in the motion again if they were unsatisfied. Hence the call for the walkout commenced.
Netizens are saying that now these MPs will make new TikTok videos regarding the situation. Many are claiming that these Perikatan Nasional MPs are receiving “gaji buta” which means that they’re receiving pay for little to no work done. Some even joked that these MPs are “polite” for calling a walk out early on, as it will give them the same incentive to do the same towards their employers.
Others are calling out the Perikatan Nasional party members for their bluff. It was alleged that when they were in power, they were considering stopping the KWSP withdrawal. However, now they’re twisting the story into their favour.
