In a recent event at the Pemasyhuran Masjid Ar-Razzaq and Majlis Berbuka Puasa in Bachang, Melaka, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, called for Muslims to protect mosques from becoming a political battleground.
Political influences not tolerated in mosques
The King emphasised that mosques should remain a sacred and respected institution and serve as an example to other religions. He also urged Muslims to ensure that the harmony of the mosque is preserved by both leaders and congregations. Political opinions should not be spreading around the mosques in the nation.
During the event, the King also congratulated the newly appointed Chief Minister of Melaka, Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, and expressed gratitude to former Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali for his efforts in arranging the visit. The royal couple also visited the Peringgit Ramadan Bazaar and will meet with members of the Melaka Islamic Religious Council on their two-day visit to Melaka.
