A South Korean man was attacked by workers at a construction site in Kota Kinabalu due to a delayed salary payment. The victim, a 53-year-old project director, suffered injuries and filed a police report.

Two suspects have been arrested, while two others are still sought for their alleged involvement. Investigation revealed the attack stemmed from dissatisfaction with the delayed payment. Videos of the incident circulated on social media. The Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship in Sabah, Phoong Jin Zhe, urged workers not to resort to violence to resolve workplace issues.
He emphasized that violence does not offer a solution and urged dialogue for resolution. The incident occurred at the office of Shinsung E&G, a subcontractor for Hyundai Engineering, involved in the SK Nexilis project. Payment issues led to a delay from April 5th to April 18th, causing worker frustration and aggression, as explained by Phoong.
