It appears that the Selangor government is wanting to encourage consumers to adopt pets rather than purchasing them. In lieu of this, netizens seem to agree with the government’s initiative. One of the biggest reasons is due to pet owners abandoning their pets after a certain period of time.

Selangor possibly banning pet stores from selling pets

A netizen states that Malaysia currently has a massive stray cat and dog problem. This would lead the government to catch them and either spay or “eliminate” them. The alternative solution is to put these animals up for adoption and let them have a chance at having a wonderful new home.

Another user states that they like this initiative from the Selangor government, but it is too rough and it would be something that Singapore would do. However, the user suggests that the government enacts SPCA and other animal organizations to place trackers and register these animals in order to know their whereabouts.
