Astro used to be the dominant force when it comes to western entertainment in Malaysia. However, when streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime came, they have been suffering hard. Furthermore, back in the day when Astro was reigning king of Malaysian entertainment, you were unable to watch television when it rained.
Astro severely disliked by Malaysians
Netizens are stating that another reason for the service’s possible decline is due to the fact that they are not adapting well to the streaming age. Apparently, their customers are not allowed to stream their shows on smartphones. Furthermore, it appears that their platform does not work on Android TV.
Others state that their platform is annoying with recurring advertisements and the same shows on repeat. This is another significant issue as advertisements should not be in place if the service is a paid one. Unfortunately, one of Malaysia’s biggest companies is arguably one of the most disliked ones.
