Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim acknowledged the significant challenge he faced due to Malaysia’s high national debt, amounting to RM1.5 trillion.

Addressing Selangor’s civil servants, Anwar emphasized that despite being questioned about his determination to work hard at an older age, he viewed it as his destiny and a crucial test.

While it may be tempting to adopt the approach of previous leaders and borrow more money, Anwar stressed the importance of responsibility and not burdening future generations with excessive debts. He also warned that corruption would not be tolerated, regardless of individuals’ status, and prosecution would be pursued.
