For most of the airlines in Malaysia, seat selection is regarded as a privilege as they tend to cost extra. Unfortunately, this also includes Malaysia Airlines as they charge a small amount for passengers to pre-select their seats. Since it is now a paid privilege, many are particular on the seats that they have chosen due to selected reasons.
Airlines charging for seat selection
A netizen stated that he purchased a flight ticket with the seat selection option chosen. However, a fellow passenger was seen sitting on his seat. He then informed the other passenger that he’d like to sit on the specific seat that he has chosen. This is regardless of the other passenger stating their reasonings on why they’d prefer the other seat.
Furthermore, this can have severe implications if there were to be any complications on the flight as the airline would record each passenger to the seat they are assigned to.
Others are agreeing with the original poster as the seats designated by the airlines are a done deal. Unless the whole idea of changing seats were discussed between the passengers, it’s better to stay on the seat the company has given to you.
