Arsenal have finalized an agreement for the transfer of West Ham’s Declan Rice, worth £105m. The fee will be paid in three installments over 24 months, with £100m guaranteed and an additional £5m in add-ons. Initially, Arsenal wanted to spread the payments over five years but had to reduce the number of installments to secure their top summer target.

Rice is expected to undergo a medical and join Arsenal soon. This payment structure benefits West Ham’s finances, as they aimed for the £100m to be paid by the end of 2024, but a compromise was reached for the final payment to be made in the summer of 2025.
Manchester City had also pursued Rice but withdrew after Arsenal exceeded £100m. Arsenal is actively reinforcing their squad, having already signed Kai Havertz and pursuing Jurriën Timber. They plan to make room for Rice by selling Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey.
Rice preferred Arsenal over City due to his admiration for Mikel Arteta’s football style and has likely agreed to a long-term deal. Arsenal may further strengthen their midfield with Roméo Lavia and face competition from Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United. Meanwhile, West Ham aims to replace Rice by targeting João Palhinha, Denis Zakaria, Amadou Onana, and South.
