It appears another controversial topic which involves transgender women using the female bathroom in Malaysia is now an issue. One of the biggest reasons for biological women to not fully agree with this idea is that Muslim women are not allowed to show their “aurat” to biological males.
Transgender women in female bathrooms
Muslim women are stating that they’d like the female bathroom to be a place where they are allowed to fix their hijab. Furthermore, a netizen states that she politely told a trans woman and her friends to leave the bathroom for her hijabi friend to fix her tudung. However, they received rude remarks from said individual.
However, a liberal netizen states that the female bathroom is for women, and transwomen are women. The user then adds that the hijabi girl can take off her tudung elsewhere, as the female restroom is public. The liberal user then states that it is a form of microaggression and nobody should be told to leave a public space.
Unfortunately, it seems that a significant number of Malaysians, whether they are Muslims or not, disagree with this sentiment.
