Parminder Kaur, a lawyer, and her husband, Bir Singh, were both convicted of forgery involving property valued at RM550,000 ten years ago and were given six-year prison sentences after losing their final appeals.

Their nine-year prison sentences were cut to six years by the Court of Appeals. The Form 14A (memorandum of transfer) was in fact falsified, according to the High Court, which supported the sessions court’s conclusion of forgery. Despite the fact that some papers connected to the Inland Revenue Board were not accepted as evidence, the bench considered the convictions to be valid and safe.
Because certain details were omitted at sentencing, Justice Hadhariah admitted that the nine-year sentence was excessive. In 2013, Parminder committed the crime by transferring property in Gombak, Selangor, using falsified paperwork.
