There are some reports that indicate that if a Malaysian household makes below RM2,200 they are categorized as low income. Furthermore, it seems that there is a call among netizens who want the national minimum wage to increase from RM1,500 to at least RM2,000 due to the inflation in the country.
Minimum wages need to rise, netizens claim
Netizens are openly stating that the government should incentivise a plan in order to raise salaries in Malaysia. Following that, many are complaining about the massive price rise of daily necessities. This situation is true for the whole world, especially after the two year Covid-19 pandemic affecting the world economy.
Another Twitter user claims that even those who are making RM20,000 a month are feeling the pinch of this economic downturn. However, others are stating that with said amount of money monthly, a lot of things can still be done. Currently, those who are feeling the real brunt of this situation are the ones surviving on minimum wage.
