Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed that the July pension and derivative pension payments for civil servants who retired before and from 2013 will be based on the original pension amounts.
Pension Payment
This decision comes after a Federal Court ruling, which will result in pension payments for pre-2013 retirees being reverted to the December 2012 amount, while those who retired from 2013 onwards will receive their original pension amount at the time of retirement. The difference between the current and original pension figures will be provided through a special aid called Penghargaan Khas Kepada Pesara.
Govt Appreciation
Anwar expressed the government’s appreciation for public service pensioners’ contributions and their welfare. The Cabinet’s decision aligns with the Federal Court’s ruling that certain sections of the Pensions Adjustment (Amendment) Act 2013 were unconstitutional.
