Prior to this, netizens were joking that the streaming giant, Spotify, did not increase their prices due to Malaysia being a “broke” country. However, it seems that they are going ahead with increasing their standard fees by RM1. Prior to this, the regular monthly fee was RM14.90. Now it’s RM15.90.

However, netizens who are loyal to Spotify state that they will continue using their services. A netizen who has been using the platform since 2020 states that it would be too late for him to change platforms. One of the biggest reasons for this is that you’d have to probably rebuild your library if you change streaming platforms.
Some users are even arguing with each other about Spotify’s fees. A user asked if anyone was actually paying for the service. Another responded by stating that it’s better than to “rob” artists by illegally listening to music. However, many forget that Spotify has a free version to listen to music.
