The story of husbands not giving enough ‘nafkah’ to their wives are unfortunately common in Malaysia. A recent viral story was about a man complaining that he has been giving his wife RM100/month and she only cooks vegetables and ‘taugeh.’

Husband giving only RM100/month as ‘nafkah’

Twitter users are vehemently angry at the husband for daring to call his wife ‘kufur.’ Netizens are stating that the man should in fact give his wife more money every month if he wants her to cook food with more variety.

Furthermore, netizens are stating that the ‘nafkah’ is meant for the wife’s personal expenditure. For the running of the household, she should be getting it specifically for groceries and other items for their household.
