In Malaysia, the slow and stagnant movement of wages has become a concerning issue that needs urgent government attention. “Median salary data by age reveals the troubling reality of young workers earning even less than the minimum wage, making it difficult for them to build a stable life and support a family. As they reach their 40s, many are still struggling to achieve a decent income despite years of hard work,” says Rafizi Ramli, Minister of Economy.

On August 7, 2023, Rafizi will present the Progressive Wage Policy paper to the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) in hopes of bringing about positive change.
