Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh has opted not to mediate in the recent dispute between the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) and professional men’s singles player Lee Zii Jia over training apparel at the Academy Badminton Malaysia (ABM) in Bukit Kiara. She refrained from commenting on potential performance implications and recommended internal resolution of the clothing issue.

BAM clarified that the apparel rules only applied to clothing, permitting players to use their respective sponsor brands for rackets and shoes during ABM training. Hannah also hinted at undisclosed future plans for National Sports Council (MSN) director-general Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail.
