It appears that there are some Malaysians who are unhappy with most netizens that disapprove polygamy. Several X users state that when a man gives his future wife a few hundred thousand Ringgit, they cheer for the man. However, when a man decides to marry another wife, netizens jeer at him.

There are several users who are calling the local feminists ironic for voicing out their opinions on the matter. An X user states that these feminists are vocal about polygamy but at the same time would run away from a homeless woman. However, this is merely a speculation from an X user, not rooted in any facts.
Others state that back in the olden days, there were reasons for a man to marry multiple women. Some of the reasons are due to their older age, or the fact that their husbands either left or died and they have kids to feed. The user adds that if it were to be the other way around, the men would make several remarks towards the woman.
