The national registration department (JPN) is probing a case involving a 21-year-old woman who lacks a MyKad, brought to attention by Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman on Instagram.
MyKad debacle
The woman, Melissa Aurellia Quek, is unable to secure a MyKad (Malaysian identity card) despite her birth certificate confirming her citizenship. Syed Saddiq expressed concern over her inability to access education and sports competitions, noting that others face similar issues.

It also called for responsible discussion of such matters to avoid misrepresentation of civil service efficiency.
