Touch N Go has been the country’s only source for cashless payment for the mass transit system in Malaysia. However, it seems that debit/credit cards will dominate this segment soon as the government is pushing for a bank card payment option while riding our public transportation system.

End of Touch N Go’s “monopolization” for mass rapid systems in Malaysia

However, some X users are not excited with this announcement. They feel that the reliance on Touch N Go will still be there until a full implementation has been done. Users state that probably in 2025 we will finally be able to enjoy using our bank cards as a payment method for LRT/MRTs.

In addition to this, users suggest that KTM should also implement a monthly pass, similar to the LRT/MRTs. This is due to the fact that a significant number of commuters are using KTM’s service from the suburban areas to the city.
