There will always be a problem with translations from one language like Arabic to English or Malay. That is because the meaning could be diluted or there could be no translation at all. From the dispute of the word Allah, now we slipped into another one where the PAS criticised Anwar saying he can’t use the word Maha because it is reserved for God. Maha, on its own, means the most, or it is supposed to. Anwar used maha kaya in his Budget speech.

Anwar Rebukes PAS
In a speech in Parliament yesterday rated one of the most famous speeches by PM Anwar Ibrahim by many, he queried the PAS. He asked whether we could say Mahaguru. The Parliament laughed. But he paused and in style, asked with amusement, ‘There is Mahathir’. He left it to the MPs to have a good laugh. Then he said some on the other side of the benches should go learn ‘Bahasa’ first before imposing bans on some words. Nice to see Anwar rebukes PAS.
