Parliament Approves New White Paper for Progressive Wage Policy

The White Paper on the Proposed Progressive Wage Policy has already been presented in the Dewan Rakyat and unanimously approved by the Members of Parliament, says Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli in a social media statement. “Workers in Malaysia have long been plagued with issues related to wages that are low and not commensurate with productivity. This issue is often debated in the public sphere.”

“Initiatives to reform wages through the implementation of this policy need to be implemented immediately to achieve the target of increasing workers’ wages. This decision needs to be taken now in order to build a better future. I am confident, with the support and joint efforts from all parties towards this initiative, we will bring Malaysia to the level of a high-income country,” he writes.
