Furthermore, she states that she was living in Singapore for a period of time, hence she forgot how to speak the local language. There are debates on whether she is right or wrong.
Netizens angry at woman not being able to speak Malay
Netizens state that as a Malaysian, we would need to at least understand basic BM especially when dealing with government agencies. After all, it is our language. Others state that if you’re a French citizen, you are expected to speak French no matter your race.
However, there are those who are defending the woman as they state that the officers should not be rude to her. There is a debate between users who agree that everyone should understand our local language, while others feel that it is not as important.
