Recently, it was known that AirAsia had a RM 4 billion loss, and it got netizens debating with each other. Tony Fernandes states that this is one of the reasons why the airline at times has high prices for certain routes. Netizens appear to agree, despite the fact that Malaysia Airlines was able to regain their profitability this year.

AirAsia losing money?

Some users are upset that AirAsia is seeking out sympathy from customers when they allegedly did not do the same for their customers during the COVID-19 ticket cancellations. 10 years ago, the opposite was true when it came to profitability between MAS and the low cost carrier.

However, plenty are still defending the airline stating that it is not an NGO, but rather a business that needs to maintain profitability. Regardless, the airline is still important to Malaysians as they do offer more competitive pricing than others in the region.
