Yek Dong Ping’s Remarkable Generosity: Aiding Tamil School Expansion

Three decades ago, Yek Dong Ping purchased land in Ayer Tawar for RM330,000, hosting SJKT Ayer Tawar school. Rather than displacing it, Yek supported the Tamil school, waiving rent and covering quit rent. Last year, when the school sought to buy the land for expansion, Yek generously agreed to sell nearly three acres for RM400,000.

Learning of the school’s financial struggles, he donated RM50,000 to the fundraising campaign, reducing the land price to RM300,000. Yek’s selfless acts garnered praise, showcasing his commitment to supporting education for Indian-Tamil children in Malaysia.
