Thirteen workers perished, and 46 were injured in a nickel smelter furnace explosion at Indonesia Tsingshan Stainless Steel on Sulawesi island. The blast occurred during furnace repairs, killing nine Indonesians and four Chinese workers. Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) initially reported different casualty numbers.
