Braden took the initiative to meet with Malaysia’s Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability to strengthen the depth of his arguments before flying abroad to attend COP28.

Braden Yong, an 11-year-old Malaysian eco-champion, represented Malaysia at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai. He highlighted the devastating local floods in Malaysia, urging global youth to take action against climate change.

Braden’s articulate speech and fluency in English impressed the audience. Supported by the online English education platform 51Talk, Braden and three other youths launched the “Join Me As A Little Environment Warrior” campaign at COP28, advocating for climate action. “Through the stage of the United Nations, I call on young people worldwide to join me in the environmental protection movement, collectively managing our beautiful home and making our global village better and better,” expressed Braden at the summit.
