The boycotts are seemingly still ongoing and X users are rather intense about it still. Furthermore, a McDonalds restaurant was closed down in Shah Alam, and netizens claimed that they “won” the battle against the giant in lieu of the boycotts.

However, this sentiment is not popular as other netizens are upset at the restaurant’s closure. They state that it would be difficult for other residents to get food fast at odd hours. Fast food chains like McDonalds are convenient for everyone as they would always be there by offering food at a reasonable price.
Another user claims to have worked for the chain restaurant and quit after the conflict started. Following that, they managed to get another job at a different restaurant. For the most part, this is unfortunately not the same case for the rest of the people working for foreign branded restaurants.
