Dr. Zakir Naik, an independent preacher, has counterclaimed against former Penang Deputy Chief Minister P. Ramasamy over three allegedly defamatory statements. This follows Ramasamy’s defamation suit against Naik filed in the Kuala Lumpur High Court last December.

In their previous legal encounter, Ramasamy was directed to pay RM1.52 million over defamation allegations. Naik’s current counterclaim is based on assertions that Ramasamy labeled him the ‘greatest enemy of Islam.’ The statements in question were made in 2019, including an article titled ‘Naik should stop his diabolical game of hatred against non-Muslims in M’sia.’
