The High Court in Kuala Lumpur announced that Datuk Seri Najib Razak can seek a Discharge Not Amounting to Acquittal (DNAA) or Discharge and Acquittal (DAA) on three money laundering charges totaling RM27 million, scheduled for trial in September.

Judge K Muniandy stated the decision would come if the prosecution isn’t ready for the five-day trial starting September 17. Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Ashrof Adrin Kamarul mentioned the prosecution’s inability to decide on Najib’s representation to drop charges.
The defense, led by Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, seeks a DAA order, indicating the charges lack merit. The court will set a trial date if needed.
