Stalker not guilty
While initially charged under the new law, Safiq was found not guilty due to insanity. The court mandated his treatment at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta for schizophrenia, concluding that he was unaware of the nature and consequences of his actions. The victim, Acacia, expressed the profound impact of the prolonged ordeal, highlighting Malaysia’s strengthened stance on stalking under Section 507A of the Penal Code.
