Nurul Hashima Abu Aris, a roadside rice seller in Kota Damansara, Selangor, faced criticism for selling budget rice at RM3.50 per pack. Surprisingly, a customer accused her of jeopardizing other vendors’ livelihoods by offering affordable meals. The customer argued that such low prices affect other businesses.

In response, Nurul Hashima chose not to engage in an argument, instead offering a complimentary pack of rice. She remains indifferent to the varying opinions, recalling past instances where customers requested both price increases and decreases. This incident highlights the diverse perspectives within the community regarding the pricing of budget rice.
