The government will adopt a contract appointment approach for civil servants until a new recruitment method is introduced to enhance the country’s public service system. The current initiative, undergoing law amendment, is expected to alleviate the long-term fiscal burden.
Government shifts to contract appointments
Chief Secretary to the Government, Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, revealed this in a circular today, emphasizing its alignment with the nation’s commitment to address escalating pension challenges.
The implementation of the new hiring approach is set to commence on February 1, 2024, following established rules and procedures outlined in MyPPSM Separation UP.1.1.1 Contract Appointment Guidelines (Contract of Service). Wan Ahmad Dahlan urged the Public Service Commission (SPA) to adhere to and implement these provisions.
