A netizen shared an incident where he ordered a specific plate of white rice and a prawn for RM37. The prawn alone costs him RM30, and he states that in the supermarkets these exact prawns are a lot cheaper than it is. He adds that restaurant markups in Malaysia are significantly higher than ever before.

Another user states that they would’ve mistakenly take at least three pieces of the prawn and would obviously be shocked when they get the bill. Following that, others state that this could have been avoided if they inquired the price of the prawn before confirming the order.
Others state that if a customer threatens some of these restaurants for calling the government agency KPDNHEP if they felt they’re overcharged, these places may reduce the prices of the total bill. However, it is always best to double check on the prices of the items you order.
