UUmno says it respects the decision made by the former Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah over Najib Razak’s commuted prison sentence and fine in the SRC International Case. “While we uphold the Federal Constitution, we are affected and saddened by the decision,” it said in a statement. The party will continue its efforts to seek justice for the party’s former president (Najib) by the country’s laws, in line with the decision made at the recent general assembly to continue defending Najib.”

Umno stays put
The party says while it supports the Federal Constitution, it is saddened by the decision. It will continue its efforts to obtain a defence against the former party president by national law while adhering to the decision of the General Assembly, it wants Dato’ Seri Najib’s defence efforts to continue. Hence, those who were hoping to see Umno pulling out of the Anwar Ibrahim government are surely disappointed.
