A pig farm in Sungai Lembu village, Bukit Mertajam, was ordered to shut down for suspected waste release, causing river pollution. The Department of Veterinary Services instructed immediate closure due to operating without a valid license. Effluents from the farm were found to contaminate Sungai Kulim and Sungai Air Merah in Kedah.
