Netizens defending “Bak Kut Teh” potentially being listed as our national dish

There are those who support the idea citing that not all Malaysians are Muslims, as there are other individuals who are allowed to eat pork. Furthermore, users state that the dish is not listed as a “Malay Heritage Dish.” They add that Malaysia is a multicultural and multiracial country.

Some are debating that it is a controversial choice to list this particular dish as our national dish as many would not be able to eat it. Regardless, other users state that there are vegetarian Malaysians who are not able to eat meat, which is included in a lot of our dishes.
