Selangor Sultan cautions Hadi – Stop insulting rulers, dividing Muslims now

Selangor’s Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has rebuked PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang for potentially divisive remarks aimed at Muslims. The Sultan expressed disappointment over Hadi’s call for all Muslims, including judges, lawyers, politicians, and rulers, to safeguard their faith. He emphasized that Hadi’s comments could sow division among Muslims.

The rebuke follows Hadi’s statement on February 20th, prompting the Sultan to clarify his previous remarks made during the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs meeting in Putrajaya. During the meeting, the Sultan had advocated for calm after the Federal Court struck down 16 provisions of the Kelantan syariah criminal code.
