Keep Bumiputera housing discounts – but not for rich, says Zahid

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi emphasized the importance of maintaining Bumiputera discounts for low-cost and affordable housing to aid low-income individuals in owning homes. He rejected a proposal to abolish discounts for luxury homes, stating they should not benefit middle or higher-income brackets.

The remarks were made following Bursa Malaysia chairman Abdul Wahid Omar’s suggestion to redirect additional revenue from ending luxury house discounts towards low-income housing. Zahid highlighted the 80 resolutions discussed at the Bumiputera economic congress, focusing on poverty eradication and fair economic distribution.
