Kunaseegaran was deemed to have a motive, while the others were considered accomplices in the planned and brutal murder, which included burning the victim’s car and disposing of his belongings. The trial, which began in 2016, saw 84 witnesses testify. The mandatory death penalty for murder was abolished last year, making it optional.
