In a parliamentary session, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan disclosed that the government has settled 1Malaysia Development Bhd’s (1MDB) debts amounting to RM48.06 billion. This includes a payment of US$3 billion (RM14.2 billion) made in March last year.

A remaining RM5 billion sukuk, maturing in 2039, awaits settlement. Under a 2020 agreement, Goldman Sachs reimbursed US$2.5 billion (RM11.8 billion), with a guarantee to return assets worth US$1.4 billion (RM6.6 billion) by 2025. These disclosures came during the discussion of the Supplementary Supply (2023) Bill 2024.
