Luxury brand Hermes is renowned for their Birkin and Kelly bags. However, these bags are known as quota bags that are not as easily sold to someone as one might think. At an estimated RM50,000 for a bag, some would think the brand would be eager to sell you one, unfortunately, the contrary is true.
Hermes being sued in California
France24 states that the lawsuit entails the alleged claim of customers required to purchase items that would give the sales staff a percentage. However, the Birkin and Kelly bags are not something sale staff would receive commission on.
Others state that if it were a celebrity interested in their bags, they might probably get one for free. It is rather ironic that consumers are not allowed to purchase certain items, but at the end of the day, it is the brand’s choice as well. A dissatisfied customer can always turn to another brand to buy their items instead.
