Hadi has had many visits to hospitals lately and in July 2023, he was again warded in his home state Terengganu for an unspecified illness and was absent from Parliament when the newly installed Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar delivered his maiden speech in the lower house at the end of February. PAS leadership change
Dr Muhammad Khalil, one of the 14 children of the PAS boss, is a member of the party’s central committee, a former youth chief, and a potential successor to his father’s position and the 47-year-old has given important roles in the party. He has also been outspoken in issues pertaining to the party’s role in implementing Syariah.
Throughout the last general elections in Malaysia, PN leaders highlighted him as a potential prime ministerial candidate due to his moderate stance on Islam and diplomatic approach. Experts note Dr. Ahmad Samsuri’s qualities make him an apt leader for PAS, particularly as the party seeks support from non-Muslims in upcoming elections.
