Johor police chief M. Kumar revealed a crackdown on a loan shark syndicate, suspected of ties to a Singaporean counterpart. Seven arrests were made in an operation spanning March 28 to April 7. Among those apprehended were six men and a local woman, aged 29 to 46, allegedly tasked with making criminal threats, including arson, against loan defaulters.

Seized items included mobile phones, cash, a laptop, and vehicles. Commissioner Kumar emphasized the syndicate’s activities since January, underscoring the authorities’ efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating across borders and bring justice to victims of illegal loan practices.
