A vegetarian restaurant chain in Taipei, Taiwan faces backlash after a food poisoning outbreak claimed four lives due to organ failure. Deputy Minister of Health and Welfare Victor Wang attributed the outbreak mainly to the Xinyi branch of Polam Kopitiam, now closed for disinfection.

Thirty-five people fell ill from March 18 to 24, with three in intensive care. The latest victim, a woman in her 40s, succumbed to complications after consuming contaminated food, resulting in multiple organ failure.
Apparently netizens state that Bongkrek acid which is said to be found in the food is relatively incurable. It is odorless, heat won’t be able to kill it and even countries like Indonesia banned certain delicacies that involve it.
